Bangladesh A registered a nerve breaking two-run victory over Zimbabwe A to level the five-match ODI series by 2-2 at the Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo
on Wednesday, reports BDNEWS.
Tigers went down 1-2 after conceding a humiliating nine-wicket defeat to the hosts in the third ODI and bounced back winning the fourth match to level
the series. The series decider will be held Saturday at the same venue.
After being sent into bat first, Bangladesh piled up a challenging score of 271 runs for eight wickets in 50 overs, riding on two fifties by Shamsur
Rahman and Mushfiqur Rahim.
Shamsur made the team's highest 63 runs before he was caught by Chibhabha off Ewing. Number seven Mushfiqur Rahim scored a fine 58 runs.
Bangladesh batters fall into deep trouble losing four wickets on 61 as new ball pair Strang and Mwayenga shared the wickets, and the fifth, sixth and
seventh wicket stood successively, and rescued Bangladesh from the disaster as well as help building a fighting total.
Fifth wicket stand put 74 while sixth wicket stand contributed 53 and the seventh wicket stand added 73 runs.
Mahmudullah scored 34 while skipper Sanwar Hossian remained unbeaten on 38. Mwayenga captured three for 75 while Strang and Dabengwa took two wickets
each for 41 and 44 runs respectively.
In reply, Zimbabwe A were forced to finish their innings on 269 runs, staying two runs behind to Bangladesh.
Zimbabwean ninth wicket fall on 269 as Strang was ran out in the last delivery by wicket keeper Mushfiqur Rahim.
Bangladesh pacer duo Syed Russell and Shahadat Hossain removed the opener Duffin and one-down Sibanda with only 12 on board. But, they failed to
maintain their rhythm, and Zimbabweans put 54 runs for the third wicket stand between Chibhabha and Strydom.
Russell again removed Chibhabha (21), but the Zimbabweans went up to fighting again as Strydom and Ervine contributed 52 and 89 runs respectively.
Despite a solid foundation, Zimbabwean tails failed to taste of certain victory as their last two batsmen were run out in quick session.
